Summer is in full swing here. The air is so warm and soft and humid. Are you sinking your toes into sand, drinking up the sunlight, heading to lovely summer evening parties? Or better yet, do you plan to throw one? If so, give this easy, gorgeous DIY succulent centerpiece with hydrangea blossoms a whirl.

This centerpiece transforms into a gorgeous natural table runner as it can stretch the full length of your table. This version includes a variety of succulents, rocks, hydrangea blossoms, moss and mica flakes for a lovely bit of natural sparkle.

This arrangement would be lovely for any kind of affair, but I love it for its easy dismantling into party favors. Make sure you have at least one succulent per guest. Have inexpensive small glass vases or bowls on hand and let them build a little terrarium with some moss, a succulent and a rock of their choosing. They’ll head home with a fabulous way to remember a stunning evening.

Liz used this concept for a wedding last month, but try it for a afternoon brunch, an evening patio fiesta, or a formal dinner party. Any way you do it, it’ll work wonders, I promise.

Materials

Preserved moss
Small 2" succulents (Try for at least 1 per guest – how awesome is this 20 succulent plants sent right to your door!)
Variety of rocks (try painting these with gold leaf for a little extra sparkle!)
Mica flakes
Hydrangea blossoms or other small floral blossom

DIY Succulent Centerpiece

:: Spread out preserved moss about 3-4" wide and along length of table.
:: Insert succulent plants along the length by burrowing a small hole in the moss and nestling plant within it.
:: Add rocks, settling some right next to the plants and spreading others out.
:: Add small blossoms of some kind, scattered along length of centerpiece.
:: Sprinkle mica flakes along length of centerpiece to add a “natural glitter.”
:: Sprinkle the mica and a handful of blossoms around the rest of the table adding a loose, casual air about the whole arrangement.
